What is Sanduq?

Sanduq is a community-first Content Management System (CMS) created by the Collaborative Digital Heritage Studio (CoDHerS), a multimedia production, exhibition, & archiving studio at the University of British Columbia.

This admin-side web application serves as the backbone of the Rahile Dawut Uyghur Cultural Archive. It is the digital container (Sanduq) that stores priceless cultural assets and their rich associated metadata.

Note

Sanduq is now available at https://dashboard.codhers.com/.

Who is Sanduq For?

The primary users of the application are community members, researchers, archivists, librarians, & students who wish to preserve, manage, and share cultural heritage with care and integrity.

Why Sanduq?

There are a plethora of content management systems today. However, after performing thorough research and analysis of these CMS softwares, we have realized that most of these are unintuitive to use by design, employ complex archival methodologies, & often have a substantial learning curve.

Hence, this reality formed the basis for the development of Sanduq, which is designed with the community in mind. It is easy to use and intuitive for the benefit of the community & students, while still providing powerful tools for researchers, archivists, & librarians alike.

System Requirements

The following are recommended for the best experience with Sanduq.

  • A computer (laptop or desktop), or any other device with a minimum screen resolution of 1280x1024.
  • A stable internet connection with at least 10 Mbps upload bandwidth.
